Welcome! My name is Kendra Niese

I am a licensed social worker in the state of Ohio. I am passionate about working with individuals and families that are struggling with past trauma, life transitions, feeling overwhelmed by life, and who want to explore what may be the root cause of their discomfort.

I believe wholeheartedly that you are the expert in your own life. I respect and honor your innate wisdom and see myself as a guide to helping you uncover what may be holding you back from living the life you desire. Life can be hard and there is nothing wrong with you if you are struggling. It might simply mean that you are in touch with your emotions, but at times, it can be difficult to manage. Or, it may be that you find yourself wanting more awareness about why you are struggling and you need help alleviating the pain or discomfort you feel. Counseling can help. We will walk together on your journey to greater understanding and self-compassion. We will uncover the why’s and even learn some skills and strategies to help you in the difficult moments. You don’t have to do this alone. We all want to feel that we can show up in the world as our authentic selves and the first step is being real and authentic with yourself. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental, safe and supportive environment to do this.

In your search to find the right therapist for you, you may find it valuable to know more about me. Throughout my career, I have worked in various roles in the mental health field, as well as working as a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years. I have witnessed firsthand how the body is directly affected by the state of the mind and the heart and how we can utilize both to increase our sense of peace and wellbeing. Like many, I have struggled at times with feeling overwhelmed by life, have felt burdened by past experiences, felt stuck and unsure how to get unstuck. I continue to do my own work to uncover my patterns and reflect on my past, which helps me create new awareness and perspective. Daily, I utilize the skills and strategies that I teach to help in moments of discomfort and unease. It is no easy task, but one that rewards you generously.

To best help you, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, play therapy techniques (with children), compassionate inquiry and traditional talk therapy. Together, we will learn which methods best fit you and your healing.

If you feel like I am a good fit for you, please reach out to schedule your free 15-minute consultation. I look forward to meeting you!
